Well, there are lots of ways to answer this, especially if like me you have had pets for years.

 Well, there are lots of ways to answer this, especially if like me you have had pets for years. But for me the most important thing has to be - take them for regular check ups to the Vet. I never had to do this until our most recent cat developed epilepsy at the age of 11 months. For the next 14 years we took him twice a year to the vet for a check up , moving to annually, even though his epilepsy disappeared mysteriously overnight (at about the same time my now ex husband did). It meant that he got his nails clipped, teeth checked, weight done and vaccinations. Peace of mind for us and a trip out for him (he loved the attention from the staff !) He lived until the age of 15, not bad when you think that at 11 months old the Vet said he wouldn’t make it to 10.

Its another party food- this time for grownups, quite popular in the 1970s and 1980s in Ireland, but seldom seen since. I’m guessing from the name that it was introduced from France at some stage, and for a time- roughly 40 years ago- no self respecting dinner party was complete without these things. It may be in the recent memory of people who emigrated from Ireland in the 1970s and 1980s- but its no longer cherished in Ireland as it once was.

Its not rocket science- most of us have helped our mothers with the cabbage in the kitchen while still in preschool. The US version tends to feature copious amounts of melted butter- the Irish version, not.
