They’re both syrups but the comparison ends there. Butterscotch has the molasses flavor added to it that gives it depth. Not everyone likes butterscotch and I’ll bet those people aren’t big fans of molasses either. My mom loved to add a bit of dark rum into her butterscotch sauce at Christmas. I have to tell you, the combination is hella good!
